Man City Make Approach For Liverpool Flop?
Manchester City are believed to have begun making enquiries for Liverpool striker Robbie Keane.
Republic of Ireland International Keane has had a rather disappointing spell at the Reds since his £20million transfer to Anfield from Tottenham Hotspur last summer.
It has been suggested that Keane could be on his way back to Spurs during this transfer window, with Harry Redknapp expressing great desire to work with the former Inter Milan striker.
However, recent reports claimed that City are also keen on the player, with boss Mark Hughes already contacting his Premier League rivals over a possible deal to bring 28-year-old Keane to the Eastlands Stadium.
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has insisted that Keane was not for sale, but did not dismiss suggestions that he had been contacted regarding the situation at the Merseyside club regarding the Irishman.
"We've had four or five approaches for players and the answer has been the same - 'no'," Benitez told the Daily Post.
"We want all our players. We don't want to sell. Robbie could be one of the ones we had an approach about, I won't say.
"Is Keane one? I'm not saying, you can guess yourselves. For me when you sign a player the main thing is not the price, the main thing is that they just keep working.
"Keane is now back in the squad, so we can stop talking about him and his future."
