Barcelona swoop for Torres
Barcelona are lining up a summer swoop for Liverpool's star striker Fernando Torres.
The Spanish giants have placed the Euro 2008 winner on their short list for next season as a potential replacement for Thierry Henry and Samuel Eto'o.
Henry will be 32 this summer while Barcelona have yet to open contract talks with Eto'o who current deal ends in 2010.
Eto'o almost left the Nou Camp last year and later this month Barca sporting director Txiki Begiristain and coach Pep Guardiola are scheduled to meet to discuss new additions for next season.
There is a growing feeling that either Henry or Eto'o will leave and Torres is greatly admired by the Barcelona management.
Joan Laporta, the Barcelona president, met Torres at the recent FIFA World Player gala dinner.
It was an informal chat with Barcelona superstars Leo Messi and Xavi also present but it was seen as an important meeting as a basis for any future negotiations.
Inter Milan are keen on Eto'o and Barcelona are aware of Liverpool's precarious financial position.
