Real Madrid Must Beat Liverpool By Two Goals At Bernabeu - Robben
Arjen Robben has acknowledged this evening that even though they closed the gap on Barcelona at the weekend, ten points is still a lot, and that his side need to beat Liverpool by two goals in the Champions League first-leg.
Real Madrid managed to bring the difference down from 12 thanks to Real Betis, who drew with Barcelona at the Manuel Ruiz de Lopera.
Robben told Marca how his side will keep on fighting for the title, even though it looks like a tough task.
"We have a very good team with a lot of quality. Ten points is a lot but we cannot do anything besides win our matches," he mused.
"We always have to think that we can win it because if we play to be second it would not go well, although we have to be realistic."
After the game with Real Betis this weekend Real Madrid meet Liverpool in the Champions League at the Bernabeu.
For Robben it will be a familiar encounter from his time at Chelsea, and one that he wants to win this time.
"Liverpool are a strong team, they have a good coach tactically and know how to win matches. It is important to score at home, we must win by two goals at least because to play at Anfield is hard," he declared.
"I want to beat Liverpool because I have lost two times in the semi-finals to them. [Pepe] Reina saved a penalty of mine, so I would like to take another and score."
The Dutchman also settled a recent debate as to who is better, himself or Lionel Messi, by admitting that "Messi is the best in the world, he does things that only he can do".
Lastly, he acknowledged that he would sign Franck Ribery for Madrid because he likes "players who are on the wings."
