Gareth Barry wants Liverpool Move insistgs his manager

Martin O'Neill says Robbie Keane's failure at Liverpool will not deter Gareth Barry from moving to Anfield if Aston Villa miss out on the top four.

Liverpool tabled four bids for Villa's England midfielder last summer.

But Liverpool refused to meet Villa's £18million price tag and bought Keane for £20m instead. Keane then returned to Spurs in January for £15m.

Villa boss O'Neill insists he will not stand in Barry's way if his fourth-placed side fail. "Gareth has spent 10 years here," said O'Neill, whose side host Spurs tomorrow.

"If we don't make the top four no-one could begrudge him a move . What happened to Keane isn't a marker for everyone."
