FIFA Agent Confirms Liverpool's Lavezzi Bid

The middleman at the centre of the Lavezzi affair claims the Reds have enquired after the striker and next week will be decisive.

Ezequiel Lavezzi has fallen out with Napoli and fled to Argentina after the Partenopei refused to grant him an improved deal that he claims was agreed months ago.

One of his representatives, Alejandro Mazzoni, maintains that the Argentine’s future at the San Paolo is in doubt and his advisor, Eduardo Rossetto, claimed this week that the Vesuviani director of sport Pierpaolo Marino has met twice with FIFA agent Pablo Cosentino on behalf of Premier League giants Liverpool over a move to Anfield.

“I have spoken with both Napoli and Liverpool,” Cosentino told the Roma daily.

“Yesterday, Mazzoni came to my office and we evaluated the situation. I have heard from both clubs, with whom I have an excellent relationship.

“I can’t say more for the time being, even because things have gone too far in this affair. It’s now time to reflect and everything will be more clear next week.”

Lavezzi is contracted to Napoli until 2013 on wages of €1 million per season and his agent has claimed Liverpool are prepared to offer ‘El Pocho’ a €3m salary.
