Liverpool Sign Johnson
Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Glen Johnson after the Reds confirmed that they had reached an agreement with Portsmouth and the player for the transfer of the full back.
Rafael Benitez has been tracking the England ace for several months and appears to have beaten off competition from Chelsea, who also had a bid accepted by Pompey, to land his man.
A club statement read: "Liverpool FC confirmed this evening that they had reached an agreement with Portsmouth Football Club and with Glen Johnson for the transfer of the player to Anfield."
Johnson is expected to cost in the region of £18m and the 24-year-old's arrival will cast doubt on the future of Alvaro Arbeloa.
Meanwhile Liverpool have snapped up highly rated 16-year-old Aaron King from Rushden & Diamonds.
The young striker has agreed a two-year scholarship deal at Anfield after impressing during a trial.
