Liverpool V Manchester United early team news
Liverpool are unlikely to have all three of Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Glen Johnson fit for the home match with Manchester United.
Manchester United are sweating over the fitness of Wayne Rooney ahead of the trip to Liverpool because the striker has still not fully recovered from a calf injury picked up on international duty with England.
Gerrard is receiving treatment on his groin problem but he is rated as doubtful while Torres is expected to be fit.
England defender Johnson could also be involved but Spanish winger Albert Riera is missing with a hamstring injury.
Ryan Giggs looks set to start for the Red Devils after shaking off a knock although Darren Fletcher is doubtful with a knee injury.
Patrice Evra (heel) returns to the squad but Park Ji-Sung is out with a knee problem.
