Atletico striker on Liverpool radar
Rafa Benitez is lining up a £15m move for Atletico Madrid’s Diego Forlan, according to reports.
The Liverpool manager is keen to strengthen his strike force in January by attempting to persuade the Mardid striker with a move to Anfield.
Benitez is looking to enter the January transfer market for a striker with Fernando Torres struggling with a hernia injury and Andriy Voronin failing to make an impact this season.
Forlan has scored five times in 11 games for the Spanish club this season and could return to the England in the near future.
The 30-year-old has opened the door on a return to the Premier League and insists he has nothing to prove.
Forlan told UEFA’s official website: “England, and the Premier League, gave me many things and I thank them for that. If I have a chance to return, I would like to go.
“I feel I have nothing to prove there. The only difference is that I am more experienced today.”
