Defoe suffers injury blow
Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe looks set for a three-week spell on the sidelines after suffering a foot injury in training.
While some early reports suspected Defoe could be out for the rest of the season, it is more likely he will be out of action for just less than a month.
However, that still leaves him in a race to fit for the Carling Cup cup final against Manchester United which takes place on March 1.
The former Portsmouth frontman has scored three goals in five games since his return to White Hart Lane but is now set to miss key Premier League matches against Bolton and Arsenal as Spurs battle to avoid relegation.
With Defoe set for a short spell on the sidelines manager Harry Redknapp may now step up his efforts to bring in another forward before the transfer window closes at 5pm on Monday.
