Ronaldinho Receives Three Match Coppa Ban
The Italian Sports Court has ruled to suspend Milan attacker Ronaldinho for an incident that occurred in the Coppa Italia match against Lazio on December 3, 2008.
In the 70th minute, Ronaldinho elbowed Lazio defender David Rozenhal in the face and the panel has deemed that the movement was “quite clearly” intentional, mostly due to the unnatural height and movement of the ex-Barcelona player’s elbow on the play.
The news is not a huge blow to Milan at this point, as they were eliminated from the competition as they lost 2-1 to the Biancocelesti in the same match. Thus, Ronaldinho will not be able to start serving his ban until next season.
Lazio will play Torino in the next round of the competition. Meanwhile, Milan are currently preparing for their Serie A match against Fiorentina on the weekend.
