Michael Owen Set For Early Newcastle United Return
The Toon's injured skipper is well and truly on the comeback trail, according to the latest reports...
British tabloid The Daily Star claims that Newcastle United striker Michael Owen is recovering quicker than expected from the ankle injury he picked up against Manchester City recently.
The 29-year-old suffered ligament damage during an awkward fall at Eastlands on January 28, and it was expected he would be out of action for around six weeks.
However, the severity of the injury has been downgraded after further scans were taken this week, and now it seems Owen could be back on the park in less than a month.
The former Liverpool star will remain sidelined for the Magpies' upcoming clashes with West Bromwich Albion and Everton, but he is hoping to be fit enough to face Bolton Wanderers on March 1.
This news is a huge boost for Newcastle, who will need all hands on deck as they try to stay afloat in the relegation battle.
