Liverpool tracking trio
Rafael Benitez is ready to cement Liverpool’s status as Europe’s top side by adding three top quality recruits to his squad in the summer.
The Daily Mirror claims that the Anfield outfit will spend big in the summer to sign Valencia duo David Silva and David Villa and former target Gareth Barry.
The combined price of the three players is expected to surpass the £100m mark although it is thought Benitez will attempt to put his contact book to good use in his negotiations with cash-strapped former side Valencia to secure a more appropriate fee.
Spanish duo Silva and Villa have been heavily tipped to leave the Mestalla in the summer, with Los Che rumoured to owe debts in the region of £400m while Gareth Barry’s chances of staying at Villa Park look likely to hang on whether Martin O’Neill leads his side to the Champions League places.
