Wenger : Ronaldo is arrogant
Arsene Wenger believes Cristiano Ronaldo is not being given the protection he deserves from referees because he is arrogant.
The Manchester United star was booked for diving during last Sunday's Carling Cup semi-final when TV replays proved he was knocked over by Tottenham's Ledley King.
And at Newcastle on Wednesday night, Toon defender Steven Taylor escaped a red card when he caught the World Player of the Year with a flailing arm.
Arsenal boss Wenger said: "Sometimes his arrogance is provocative - and his class as well. But when a player is not protected it's not right. When there is a bad tackle you have to be punished and get sent off the pitch."
Wenger admitted having sympathy for Ronaldo after Newcastle's Alan Smith escaped punishment for clattering the Portuguese winger.
