Agent Tips at Anfield Switch
David Silva's agent has fuelled speculation that Liverpool could be lining up a move for his client after revealing that several clubs had enquired about the Valencia midfielder.
Jose Segui did not name which clubs had asked about the availability of the Spaniard, who was part of his country's Euro 2008-winning squad, but that Silva was definitely a man in demand.
"At this time it is normal there are many stories in the papers about transfers, but the decision depends on Valencia," Segui said.
"It is certain that some clubs have asked about the boy, but he has a deal with Valencia and he is happy in the city."
Valencia sporting director Fernando Gomez, who had previously admitted that Silva and several other high-profile Los Che players may have to be sold to service club debts, insisted that no decisions would be made until the end of the season with the club still battling for a Champions League place.
"Now it is impossible to negotiate anything because the future of the team in qualifying for Europe is not decided and that is key for the budget next season," Gomez said.
Despite this, Reds' manager Rafael Benitez is expected to be on high alert with Silva regarded as one of his top transfer targets although he has previously denied rumours linking the midfielder with a move to Anfield.
"Our chief scout was in Valencia and talked with different people from the club but someone was talking too much," he said in March.
"If we are going to look for someone we will not announce it to everyone - we will try to do it properly and secretly."
