Forlan Nearing Premier League Return
The ex-Manchester United flop could be heading back to England to prove a point...
Diego Forlan, the Atletico Madrid striker, is poised to return to the Premier League, with Liverpool keen to obtain his services.
Forlan already has a verbal agreement with the Reds and the only stumbling block is an agreement between the two clubs.
Forlan currently has a release clause of €36 million, and Atletico intend to hold out for every penny. However, they could settle for a deal of €24 million plus Lucas Leiva, who has interested Atleti in the past.
Forlan is enjoying arguably his best season in the Spanish top-flight, having scored 25 league goals thus far, placing him second on the top scorers list. Should he join Liverpool, he will link up with Fernando Torres, whom he replaced at Atletico.
Of course, Forlan already has experience of England having played for Manchester United, although he only managed to score 10 goals in 63 appearances.
