Gerrard would love to play alongside Owen again, But is the move to Anfield on the cards??
Steven Gerrard is not only hopeful his former Liverpool teammate Michael Owen can secure a big move away from Newcastle, but also that he breaks back into the England squad.
The former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker has endured a torrid time with injuries and a dip in form in the last two years. Having suffered relegation with Newcastle, and now being a free agent, Michael Owen has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, Tottenham and most notably Everton.
The Liverpool skipper said: “I do believe he can play for his country again.”
“He's suffered a lot in the last couple of years with injuries but a fit Michael Owen has the ability to be involved in this squad for sure.”
“I've not spoken to him that much of late but I'm sure, knowing Michael as long as I have, he will be desperate to get back playing football again, staying fit and scoring goals.”
He added: “If I was a scout or a manager I would be giving Michael a ring. I would love to see him get a move from Newcastle to a big club.”
