Gerrard shrugs off injury issues
Steven Gerrard has given both Liverpool and England a boost by shrugging off the groin injury that saw him substituted at half-time of the 1-0 defeat to Ukraine.
The Liverpool captain had been expected to be out for up to 10 days but an initial scan yesterday found no serious damage to his groin and just a minor pull.
Gerrard has remained with the England squad and could now play a part in the final World Cup qualifier against Belarus at Wembley on Wednesday.
He will undergo treatment for the next 24 hours although England manager Fabio Capello is unlikely to take any risks with Gerrard.
Liverpool face a hectic fixture list with crucial matches against Sunderland, Lyon and Manchester United in eight days, starting this coming Saturday.
