Liverpool face competition from German side

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping to beat Borussia Bortmund to the signature of Belgium youngster Divock Origi by offering him back to Lille on a season-long loan, according to reports.

The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for the 19-year-old since the World Cup began last month, but The People claims that Borussia are keen on Origi and the player is also thought to favour a move to Germany this summer.

Dortmund's interest is believed to have triggered Rodgers' decision to offer the frontman back to his current club for the next campaign.

If the German outfit do land the 19-year-old, it could spark a transfer scramble between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur for the services of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who may be surplus to requirements at the Westfalenstadion.
