Rodgers will consider going dutch if sanchez deal falls

Liverpool are understood to be considering a bid for Netherlands striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

It is clear Brendan Rodgers would love to bring Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez to Anfield as a replacement for Luis Suarez.

However, reports suggest that the Chile winger would rather move to Arsenal so it is sensible the Reds look at possible alternatives.

One possible option could be Schalke striker Huntelaar, who has already commented on the speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool.

‘Regarding the rumours about Liverpool it would only be fair to speak to Schalke first,’ said the player. ‘I’ve talked with Schalke about an extension for a while. After the World Cup I am having a holiday. Then I will speak to them again.’

In my opinion the Schalke striker would be a good option for Liverpool as he is another experienced striker to compliment the talents of Rickie Lambert and Daniel Sturridge.

Huntelaar has scored wherever he has played and I reckon he will score in England if given the chance.

Regardless it is good to see the club have a number of options on the table and are not relying on being able to tempt first-choice target Sanchez without a plan B.
