Liverpool interested in Loic Remy

Arsenal and Liverpool could be expected to pay around £8 million for the services of Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy.

A source close to the player recently said Remy, who joined QPR for £8m from Marseille in January 2013, had held talks with both clubs over a summer move. The 27-year-old is contracted to the Loftus Road club until 2017 but spent last season on loan at Newcastle, where he impressed with 14 goals.

QPR manager Harry Redknapp, who steered his side back to the Premier League this weekend with a 1-0 Play-Off final victory against Derby, does not expect Remy will return to the club next season.

"I don't see [Loic] Remy wanting to come back and play," Redknapp said. "He's talking about playing Champions League somewhere.

"I wouldn't know what he'll do, but I think he's got a buy-out clause which is at a reasonable level. Not much more than we paid for him."

Remy, who has been selected for France's World Cup squad, watched Arsenal's last home game of the season against West Brom from the Emirates Stadium stands, but manager Arsene Wenger revealed he had not invited his fellow Frenchman.
