The ex-England international believes the Uruguay international would be better off signing for Real Madrid than the Catalan giants as he feels he won't link well with Lionel Messi
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes Luis Suarez is making a mistake in signing for Barcelona.
Goal understands the Catalan giants are set to offer Liverpool £70 million for the Uruguay striker - a fee which would trigger the release clause in his contract.
But Scholes believes that Suarez's relationship with Lionel Messi could prove pivotal should he complete a move to the Spanish side, with the Argentina captain seen as the main attacking player in Luis Enrique's line-up.
And the ex-England star feels that Suarez may have been more suited to Real Madrid, who were reportedly interested in securing his signature.
"If Luis Suarez does sign for Barcelona from Liverpool, will Lionel Messi 'accept' him?" he wrote for Paddy Power.
"Suarez is a centre forward and he won't want to play out wide. I can't see Suarez and Messi linking well together.
"It seems to me, if Messi likes you, you'll play.
"If he doesn't, you're wasting your time. And, to be honest, I think Suarez is making a bit of a mistake going to Barcelona – he'd be better suited to Real Madrid."
